Julia and John came all the way to Fiji to get married at Tropica island resort! The morning of their wedding there was a storm! But they were both really relaxed and as they started to get ready from 3pm the sunshine came back and mother nature gave us the most incredible sunset. The ceremony was held at sunset point, which offers a gorgeous view on the sea and the surrounding islands.
Tropica island resort staff had gotten ready the most beautiful flower arrangements, the witnesses were dressed with traditional Fijian warriors outfits and a very talented guitarist was playing all along.
These are Julia’s words about the ceremony :
Why did you choose Tropica Island resort? How was your experience with the resort?
We chose Tropica because we just fell in love with it when we watched the pictures on their website and Instagram. We were looking for an intimate and small piece of paradise, with luxury and adults-only. We wanted the place to feel personal in the way that we didn’t want a massive hotel complex, but rather something smaller. We also wanted to be on a smaller island and not on the main island, and Tropica was all these things that we wished for and more!
Any tips to give for future brides about getting married in Fiji?
My tips to future brides who are getting married in Fiji is just to enjoy and be in the moment! To take the time to find a really good photographer, which we sure did 🙂
To plan a wedding ceremony at distance (we were in Sweden when planning our wedding in Fiji) can be a challenge. So we decided to just lean back and relax, and let the hotel do the planning for us. They felt experienced in this, so we trusted them to take care of everything!
How did you enjoy the day?
They day was just magical! We had a lot of time for each other, which was the most important thing. We spend the hours before lunch just sitting on our small porch and talking/cuddling. After that we got ready together, just the two of us. The whole day was just about the two of us and we wouldn’t want to have it any other way.
Where did your flowers came from?
The hotel staff put it together for me, I think they just picked the flowers in their garden.
What about hair and make-up?
I did my hair and makeup myself. I focused on creating a good base for my makeup with a beauty crème/primer from Clarins. When the humidity is high (like in Fiji) I find that a good primer is the most important thing. For hair…. I wanted to curl it, and I curled it like 4 times but no matter how much spray the humidity just made it flat again.
Where was your dress from? Your shoes? And John’s gown? The rings?
My dress was a Lilian West from the new collection. I was barefoot. John’s gown was tailor made at a tailor in our hometown Malmö, the store is called Engelska Herr and the fabric is from England. The rings are Schalins.
How was your experience with the photographer 😉 ?
We were not very used to being photographed and to be in the center of attention like that, but after just a few minutes we got relaxed. I loved being photographed, felt like a movie star and princess in the same time! You made us comfortable and had a lot of ideas and inspiration for us. It was a lot of fun!
Anything you would like to add?
Just that the whole experience was so magical. When I walked up to the hill where John was waiting, with the drums in the background, I have never felt so lucky and happy in my whole life. I will cherish that moment forever.
