I’m so lucky to photograph such beautiful weddings! This one is about Mary-Frances and Ben’s wedding at Vomo island Resort, Fiji. It’s about family, complicity, reunion, traditions and of course lots and lots of love. Enjoy the reading and the viewing!
Why did you choose Vomo? How was your experience with the resort?
We went to Vomo for the first time after we had our first child and had the most magical time. We went again after we had our second child and that’s where we got engaged. So it made sense to have our wedding there as it’s a place that means so much to us as a family.
The Vomo team bent over backwards to make it the best experience after we’d waited so long to have our wedding due to the pandemic.
The food and wine was spectacular which is really important to us – as we were a small wedding group we did a degustation dinner with matching wines and it was phenomenally good in the most beautiful setting.
Any tips to give for future brides about getting married in Fiji?
It is a wonderful place to get married. Especially for people with families and young kids. It has beautiful scenery for photos, the weather is beautiful. But the best thing is it feels like it’s not just one day but a whole inch of celebrations with family and friends.
How did you enjoy the day?
The day of the wedding was so memorable. The boys went on an early fishing trip before getting ready at the house. The girls had fun getting ready together in one of the villas. We had a lot of laughs.
Where did your flowers come from?
The flowers were organised by the resort. They came from the village which was a lovely local touch.
What about hair and make-up?
I was recommended Lodoviko who was fantastic. He was relaxed, fun, but still took it seriously. I would recommend Lodo.
Where did you buy our dress from? Your shoes? And Ben’s gown? The rings?
My dress was from Moria Hughes Couture in Sydney. I loved the dress. It was covered in sequins so it was lightweight for the Fiji climate but still had lots of sparkle which I love. It was so sparkly in the setting sunlight.
Ben wore his traditional Scottish kilt, as did our son Max. It looked fantastic in the Fiji setting.
Shoes were Christian Louboutin.
Rings by Matthew Ely.
How was your experience with the photographer?
Anaïs was amazing. We feel really lucky to have had Anaïs as our photographer.
She knew the island so helped us with timing and setting for photos. She made sure she got all the main shots and was clearly very thoughtful about the process. Anaïs was really lovely, friendly and professional. So she made it feel easy and relaxed.
