Erin and George had their elopement at Nanuku on the Coral Coast. They had the ceremony on the top of the hill in a remarkable villa with a sea view and surrounded by lush Fijian greens.
There was a few tears and a lot of smiles. The wonderful attention to details from the staff made this day an absolutely spotless experience. These are Erin’s words :
Why did you choose to get married at Nanuku? How was your experience with the resort?
« George and I got engaged about a year and a half ago. We both knew that we wanted to elope, but didn’t know exactly where to go. We just knew that we wanted somewhere romantic and intimate.
We were at a charity event for the United Cerebral Palsey of Greater Cleveland, Ohio and there was an auction with the grand prize being the trip to Nanuku. George turned to me and asked if I wanted to get married in Fiji, without a hesitation- I said absolutely.
Since we had been to another Auberge resort in Napa, CA and loved it.. we knew it would be a nice resort- plus it was for charity! So we bid at the auction and won the trip. Our plans for getting married in Fiji were under way.
The staff and people were amazing at Nanuku. So friendly and they made the entire experience 5 star all the way. We will definitely recommend it to everyone and plan to return with our kids someday.
Any tips to give for future brides about getting married in Fiji?
The staff a Nanuku handled EVERYTHING. We just needed to bring the appropriate documents to get the marriage license- but other than that- we did nothing.
How did you enjoy the day?
It was amazing. I had no clue as to what was planned. Just the location of where the ceremony and our dinner would be. For both of these important considerations the staff offered us many different options all through the resort. But the rest was a pleasant surprise.
Where did your flowers came from?
The staff decorated everything and provided the flowers; the music and the Fijian warriors that walked me down the aisle. They found the officiant & witnesses (since it was just the two of us), and made a memorable cake and of course dinner afterward.
It was very convenient, especially since the time zone difference of plus 16hrs would have made planning a wedding in a country that you’ve never been to before somewhat difficult.
The staff took care of every little detail and made it so special for us. Everyone at the resort was congratulating us.
There was a ‘just married’ sign hanging on our door when we returned home that evening and they even spelled out congratulations on the bottom of our private pool. Those little details were just a few of the things that the staff at Nanuku did for us.
I did my own hair and makeup. I wanted to look natural and like myself.
Your dress? Your shoes? And George’s gown? The rings?
George’s suit was from Nordstrom. George’s ring was a platinum engraved band by Tacori and mine was a custom made yellow gold band by a designer in Cleveland.
How was your experience with the photographer 😉 ?
You were awesome! From the hiking in the woods to running all up the beach and into the ocean to get the perfect shots in our slim time frame. The shots all turned out great. And the turnaround time was quick. You have an amazing eye for photography and capturing the emotion of the day. Thank you! »Dress
